Javier was into technology since he remembers himself. He got his first computer almost 20 years ago, during those times it had floppy disks and no internet connection. Not surprisingly, many years later he decided to study for a Software engineering degree. Before joining LafargeHolcim EMEA Digital Center he worked for several tech giants as Software Engineer and Consultant.
What’s the most interesting thing you’re working on right now?
I like to be involved in innovative changes and improvements. Currently, I am lucky to be working on new initiatives for the CRM team. The most interesting and valuable one is Customer 360: It defines a new perspective of a Customer for the Sales team. The idea is to show in one shot all necessary information of a Customer from several perspectives (Sales, Service, Finance …) and multiple teams and systems (Salesforce, SAP, BW). The most important aspect of it: updated, easy to read, and accessible information from different devices. It has been a great challenge because it required connecting multiple technologies like Mulesoft, SAP BW, or Einstein Analytics. Some of them are new to the company.
I am proud of how my team is changing the way business sees IT. In the past, IT teams were considered only as a group of people that changed the technology the rest of the employees needed to use. Now businesses consider us as technological facilitators that help them to define and develop new business models to achieve a digital transformation. They trust us.
What do you love about working at LafargeHolcim EMEA Digital Center?
As I said before the thing I like most about this company is digital transformation. I see the EMEA Digital Center service centre as a big team that wants to change how LafargeHolcim works. We work together with the business by defining new accurate processes that are supported by solid and valuable tools that make the rest of employees’ jobs easier. This digital transformation strategy of EITS makes us the possibility of developing new solutions, using innovative technologies.
Also, LafargeHolcim is a huge company, very complex processes, and multiple countries. It makes an engineer think in scalable solutions that cover all parties’ requirements. Also, those solutions need to be connected between multiple systems, easy to maintain and secure.
People are also very important too. Great colleagues with a lot of knowledge that are always close to help you.
So all these things make our company a perfect cocktail.
While we are all under lockdown, how do you use your extra time?
I like cooking and photography. In my free time, I always try to save some time to spend on these activities. Besides, I enjoy making and collecting 3D puzzles. I have almost 30 finished at home. Since my hobbies do not require much space, I could enjoy it during the lockdown.
What is your best piece of advice for someone considering applying for LafargeHolcim EMEA Digital Center?
I have been working in other IT companies, so I have a good perspective of the market and I consider LafargeHolcim EMEA Digital Center as a great place to work. A company that wants to develop innovative solutions to improve the rest of the LH organization. A company that is always open to hearing the employees for new ideas and offers time to define and develop them. In addition, it has an international environment that makes you work with people from many countries and cultures. Lastly, people are very professional and open to help.
